Prophetic Qurbani revives a confirmed sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who sacrificed two rams every year of his life after the obligation was prescribed: one on behalf of himself and his family, and one on behalf of his ummah (all Muslims, including those who could not afford to give). It is reported by Anas ibn Malik (RA): "The Prophet ﷺ sacrificed two horned rams, white with black markings; he slaughtered them with his own hand, said the basmala and takbir."
