Family Qurbani

Combine up to seven family members — including deceased loved ones — into a single cow or camel sacrifice. Each share carries its own name, its own intention, and its own certificate.

“We slaughtered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Hudaybiyya: a camel for seven and a cow for seven.”

— Jabir ibn Abdullah (RA) · Sahih Muslim 1318

How Family Qurbani Works

Four simple steps — different intentions per share are fully permitted.

1

Choose Cattle or Camel

Both are shareable up to 7 people. Sheep are not.

2

Pick Number of Shares

1-7. Buy fewer; remaining slots filled by other donors.

3

Name Each Share

Family members, deceased relatives, or any intention.

4

Receive Certificates

Separate proxy + receipt PDF for each named share.

Example: A Family of Five

Each share can carry a different name and intention.

Family Qurbani FAQ

What is a Family Qurbani?+
A Family Qurbani is one cow, water buffalo, or camel divided into up to seven shares — each share fulfilling the Qurbani obligation of one person. Family members (or any group of seven) may pool together to purchase a single animal. Hadith: "We slaughtered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Hudaybiyya: a camel for seven and a cow for seven." (Sahih Muslim 1318).
Can different family members have different intentions?+
Yes. Each share can carry a separate intention: Qurbani (Eid sacrifice), Aqiqah (newborn), Adak/Nadhr (vow), or sadaqah for a deceased relative. The intention is the donor's, not the animal's. The four classical Sunni schools agree on this. You will receive a separate proxy certificate for each share, naming each beneficiary.
Can I include a deceased relative in our family Qurbani?+
Yes — all four Sunni schools (Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) permit Qurbani for the deceased; the reward reaches them. When you give a share for a deceased person, the meat is fully distributed to those in need (the donor's family does not consume that share). Enter the deceased's name in the "On Behalf Of" field at checkout.
Do all seven sharers have to be from the same household?+
No. The seven shares can be from any combination of related or unrelated people — friends, siblings living in different cities, or even total strangers. What matters is that the animal is divided into exactly seven (or fewer) shares before slaughter, with each share assigned to one valid Qurbani intention.
How does payment work for a family of seven?+
Two simple options: (1) One person pays for the entire animal at checkout and is sole point of contact; certificates are issued for each named beneficiary. (2) Each family member pays separately by entering the same animal number / coordinator email — Bakara 195 batches them into a single cow share. Most families choose option (1) for simplicity.
How much does a Family Qurbani cost?+
A whole cow with all seven shares ranges from $1,470 (international, $210 × 7) to $3,780 (domestic Türkiye, $540 × 7). You can also buy fewer shares — e.g. four shares for a four-person family at $840 international. The remaining shares are filled by other donors, and the animal is slaughtered as a single Qurbani.
Will I receive separate certificates for each family member?+
Yes. For every named share, Bakara 195 issues a separate proxy certificate (vekalet) and donation receipt PDF. Certificates include each named beneficiary so families can keep them as a record. A photo distribution report is sent within 2-3 weeks of Eid.
