Dhul Hijjah FAQ
When does Dhul Hijjah 2026 begin?+
Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH is expected to begin on Monday 18 May 2026, subject to moon sighting. The first ten days run from 18-27 May. Eid al-Adha 2026 falls on Wednesday 27 May.
Why are the first ten days so important?+
The Prophet ﷺ said: "There are no days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." (Sahih al-Bukhari 969). Scholars rank the day of Arafah (9 Dhul Hijjah, falling on Tuesday 26 May 2026) as the single best day of the year.
What is the Day of Arafah?+
The 9th of Dhul Hijjah — when Hajj pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafah. For non-pilgrims, the Prophet ﷺ recommended fasting: "Fasting the day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year." (Sahih Muslim 1162). Charity given on this day is among the most weighty.
How does daily automated giving work?+
You set a daily amount ($5, $10, $50 or any value) and Bakara 195 charges it automatically each day from 1-10 Dhul Hijjah (May 18-27). The donation is split across selected causes — orphans, water, food, or Qurbani fund. You can pause or cancel at any time. After day 10 the schedule ends automatically.
Can I give Qurbani during these ten days instead of daily charity?+
Both are recommended — they are different acts of worship. Qurbani is one major sacrifice on Eid (or days 11-13 Dhul Hijjah). Daily charity from days 1-10 is sadaqah on the most beloved days of the year. Many donors do both.
